Position summary:   Provides assistance to Supervisors for tasks involving proper floor coverage and conduct.
 
Essential functions: 
  • Gains and maintains a strong understanding of all relay related information relevant to Captioning Assistants. 
  • Maintains confidentiality of any information obtained regarding personnel, procedures, and technology. 
  • Enforces all call handling and floor policies when acting as the only individual responsible for floor coverage. 
  • Provides monitoring coverage. 
  • Responds to and troubleshoots technical issues on Captioning Assistant calls and reports issues to appropriate staff. 
  • Attends job appropriate meeting and training sessions. 
  • Solves routine problems and directs non-routine problems to the CapTel supervisor. 
  • Sets and assures conformance of standard policy and procedure. 
  • Assists in comprehensive training of Captioning Assistants. 
  • Provides leadership and motivation for Captioning Assistants. 
  • Stresses quality in all work situations. 
  • Provides quality Customer Service. 
  • Assists in the organization and management of the Relay Floor. 
  • Understands hourly reports and reader board to ensure answer performance compliance. 
 Other responsibilities: 
  • Carries out job duties with minimal supervision. 
  • Works scheduled hours. 
  • Provides guidance to a variety of workers. 
  • Familiar with computers and new technology. 
  • Performs similar work related duties as assigned. 
  • Captions calls in a CA capacity when directed. 
  • Maintains the ability to work flexible hours. 
Preferred education, experience and skills: 
  • High school education or equivalent. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well. 
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills. 
  • Positive attitude and complies with company policies. 
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. 
  • A captioning assistant in the levels program is preferred.
